I’ve never really been exposed to men wearing Uggs except for the odd celebrity photograph in gossip magazines, until now. Walking into my block of flats I bumped into the boys that live below, each wearing their own man Uggs. This may seem like an OTT reaction for something that has been about for years, but for me to finally become face-to-face with the man Ugg was rather shocking and to be honest I can’t make my mind up. Something about them didn’t feel right. Maybe it was that they were all sporting the Ugg boot. Maybe it just felt to ‘try hard’, making a fashion statement when one really wasn’t necessary. Or just the overall fact that these were normal boys and only the select few with celebrity status can wear such a boot.
Looking through the magazines of celebrities, such as Orlando Bloom and Justin Timberlake I can possibly accept this fashion style, after all there hot enough to pull it off. Yet the image of Ben Affleck teaming his Ugg boots with his suit is a big fat NO! So again my mind isn’t made up, some men yes the Ugg looks like a natural choice, where others just need to stay far away (Ronnie Wood for example.....O dear).
I will however say, in my eyes these men are brave to try such a female associated boot and if they can look good doing so, then go for it. Others may disagree, with some friends of mine loving a man in an Ugg with others finding it one of the biggest turn offs out there (they believe it emasculates a man......maybe a little harsh). Either way I think the man Ugg is something you either love or hate and I feel that it is here to stay with a high chance of gaining popularity.
